It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

When she was out her side required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
